Depends on how much it goes for could be a good deal... 300 is a dfx with a 12" coil so a bit better on depth than the 950. Joan Allen were advertising a "fair" condition 300 for £350 but its not on their website so I guess its sold now...  Worth phoning around. The older model is basically the same just a smaller coil.

Kev over at Staffs has got a Whites 6000XL Pro for £265, which is easily on a par with a DFX
http://staffsmetaldetectorsonlineshop.co.uk/whites-6000--xl-pro-698-p.asp

This is a review Gary did on them
http://www.garysdetecting.co.uk/6000pro.htm

And he's got an Fisher 1270 for the same price

That looks like a good deal Geoff. Also 2 DFXs there for 345 ea. And a Rutus have seen Taffs rutus and turned it on, nice and light, not really tried though. Could be a good machine seemed to get some good reviews. Advantage of whites is additional coils, dont know of.any aftermarket for the rutus. Well Dusty there's some options mate Wink

I really shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Who'd have thought this would match a DFX... crazy!

DM, think that Rutus he's selling is Polish menu only, probably why it's on the cheap. Gonna have a look at that Whites.

Thanks chaps

A capable machine, in the same league as the others you've been looking at but none are going to be as good as the SE you had Undecided

Not to sure on the musketeer, but I doubt there is much difference between it and an Explorer XS, about £350 Huh

Just had my DFX back from whites, where they fitted a new screen and stem for £80. May sound steep, but the DFX is as good as new now.
Dont envy you buddy, so many good units out there, e-tracs are a sound unit, but for me at the moment the 300 is part of the family  Grin
Looked at a VX3 but £925 give me a cold sweat, but the missus told me to get it  Shocked I think she loves me!!! or is it the peace and quiet when i am out ? Roll Eyes

Went with my gut and settled for a CZ-3D. £320 and from the discription has been well looked after.... here's hoping.

Thanks for all the advice on this thread gents.
