Following last night gale force winds (during which I lost a fence panel!
} I thought as I had a few hours to spare today I would pop to a local beach for two hours.
Upon arrival my hopes were soon dashed of it being anything like my visit a few years ago {when you really didn't need a detector to find coins} as the sand was as high as I have seen it. I hit my normal spot where I always find milled silvers and pre decimals to find it was so sanded in it was pointless. I did manage to turn up a childs broken silver band but that was it.
I worked the shore line for a while and pulled out around two quid in coins and at last a couple of deep cruded up coppers.
I soaked the green crudded one in boiling water for half an hour and gave it a gentle crack with a rock hammer. This is my patented "get the coin out of the crud method" that has always served me well! Out popped a bun head vicky to my suprise. Not in too bad shape for over 150 years in the water.
The other cruded coin I am still waiting to soak - any idea on what it is going to be guys? Photo of it to follow later.
Cheers
Neil
