Out with my long standing detecting buddy of many names to a Frozen yet still glorious Vale of Glamorgan. We initially thought that the ground would be hard, but to be honest it was a doddle and easy to dig.

After a half hour spent with the farmers wife (ooer misses! Roll Eyes) chewing the fat and eating her toast we set out onto new fields to us as she mentioned during the chat that more fields around the farm were now hers.

The first two fields we found next to nothing, so with heavy hearts and myddy clothing we hopped into the Landy for a quick jorney to some of the other "new" pastures.

These proved to be a lot more successful with an early military button falling to myself (any ideas guys), followed quickly by a few coppers coins, musket balls, bit of broken buckles, etc.

Jaydogg in the meantime was heading over to me, to show me a cracking George II copper he had unearthed when a few feet from me he got a signal. Dug a bit, dug a bit more, and came up with a George III 1818 sixpence in his grubby little fingers. His second this week! A great result - well done mate.

Heading back to the car and I received a signal literally lieing on the top of the churned up mud and there was probably a hammered copper token - needs a bit of TLC - but you can see part of the legend around the top.

Headed back home to the annual hunt through the attic for Christmas decorations that my wife makes me preform every year.

A good morning out and a site to revisit.

Cheers
Neil

Always a pleasure Neil, give me a shout later in the week. Here is that George I shilling I told you about. Tis a tad worn but like all old coins it has a certain charm.

Thats a cracker mate - scarce silver coin to find as well.

Well done - I'll ring you in the week. You left your bag in my car. If you need it - I'm in most of the week.

Neil, in reply to your quip about whimps and cold weather I must say I only moan about the frozen, cold ground when I'm sitting on it, like I was this morning. Shocked
The sad thing is you don't bounce at my age, even when you're well padded. Roll Eyes
