Been at it again, after a 50 minute trip only to find out the field I wanted to go on had been rolled and seeded with corn so with this farmer it was out of bounds unfortunately, so I found my self back on the field that produced my last groat. This field had been deeply cultivated so conditions were not ideal but it had settled since my last visit. It was very warm and at one point I actually contemplated popping up the road to an easier search? any way as you can see it was well worth the effort . A fair share of grots but with a few  Roman goodies chucked in, the first was a Constanntinus but has a head on both sides! a first for me and would appreciate your thoughts please, then came the Denarius of Antonius Pius, a cracking coin good silver just needs a bit of cleaning, it does has a bit of green on it ? could it have been with others may be more around Huh the final coin I reckon is also a Denari ? smaller and more bronze looking but heavy for size and does have signs of silver not sure what to do about this one for cleaning. Hope you enjoy them half as much as I have recovering them.

That Denarius is a beaut I love it when silver coins come out that blue/black colour it just screams history, the folis is a keeper too it's Constantine

Constantine I, AE follis, 23mm, Trier, 310 AD.

IMP CONSTANTINVS PF AVG, laureate, cuirassed bust right.
MARTI CONSERVATORI, helmeted, cuirassed bust of Mars right.

The 'ant pius' is actually Caracalla (whose real name was Ant Pius, after his father changed it to make a family link to the Antoninines) - reverse LIBERALITAS AVG VI - with a 'BRIT' obverse legend dates to 211-212AD, id RIC 216

The other smaller 'denarius' looks limes / white metal - of the time, but is a 'denarius; of his father Septimius Severus:-

RIC 74, RSC 6, BMC 151

Septimius Severus Denarius. L SEPT SEV PERT AVG IMP VIII, laureate head right / ADVENTI FELICISSIMO, Severus on horseback right, raising hand

The Constantine has the head of Mars on the reverse:-

Constantine I, AE follis, 23mm, Trier, 310 AD. IMP CONSTANTINVS PF AVG, laureate, cuirassed bust right / MARTI CONSERVATORI, helmeted, cuirassed bust of Mars right  (or variant with mint mark) - they date 310-313AD

Well done, again, Paul.  As each day goes by there are more and more fields to choose from but I can bet there wont be any coins like that in any of them.  Those 3 are awesome.

The field were I found the 'Token' appeared overnight. I knew it wasn't the best but it was a good test for the Deus and it didn't let me down. Have decided I like it and it can stay. Grin

Yes, we're all just hoping one day to have some fields with some coins in! - pity my GM 4 is still very close to becoming hedge fodder - thought I'd found some more coins in the hoard field, but they were just the pennies my old man buried so I knew where to look in the future......(in the wrong place too)

btw I enjoy identifying the coins Cheesy
