I was out Wednesday, but unfortunately due to the location of the site I was exposed to the very strong winds,
coupled with the weight of the CTX and 17 inch coil
to put it bluntly I struggled badly, so I decided to call it a day early. So yesterday I was back and took the Deus just in case, the bottom of the field was ploughed deep several weeks ago for ground cover for the birds and I have been waiting for the farmer to work down a bit and seed, as I approached I could see it had been done
although as yet not seeded and consequently the ground was very soft underfoot and I did not expect to much depth to be had, however a few finds was brought up and here they are. What a shame the Cross bow brooch is damaged (3rd-4th century AD) , to the right of picture is a roman tweezer or is it a pair
I would be interested for your opinions on ID of the 2 coins either side of the camp gate issue coin in the middle
the finds look a bit dark as I soaked them in clean cooking oil over night, and will lighten up
that's it I've had a busy week so resting the muscles till Tuesday, have a good ester guys and don't eat to many eggs
Ooooh for got to say, Geoff look what's next to the tweezers
