hi all
out today with pipster..ianjohn..gavin..and my brother mark..a trip to berkshire.after an hour and half delay on the m4 due to 7 over turned cars..we finally arrived at the farm house at 10.30am..and then we headed for the fields and as soon as we started.the snow that was forecasted came down quite heavy for almost 3hrs..it was so cold it was enough to make a grown man cry.
but from word go roman coins were coming up like we.ve never seen them before.every few minutes someone would shout roman coin.after about 2hrs detecting in the snow we could.nt feel our fingers..on a personal note i thought at one stage i had frost bite on my toes.i told pipster if i did.nt leave the field im gonna freeze to death.. it was the coldest ive ever been..yet again it was the coldest they.ve ever been..we were looking at atleast an inch or two of snow on the ground.after two hours detecting we decieded to head for the 4x4 to try and warm back up a bit.after an hour of being in the car the snow finally stopped but it was still biterly cold..but back on the fields we went for another crack. for another few hours.in total i think it was 34 bronze roman coins and a lovely silver denarius from my brother mark.only cheffy and pipster knows at the moment what denari it was.can you shed some light please geoff..and i must say on behalf of the five of us in such cold condition.no more deserved welldone boys..some people just dont know when to quit.lol..back to the farm house to tell the farmer and give him his fair share.

Raymondoo !!

"it was so cold it was enough to make a grown man cry"
There's a joke there Ray but I won't go there lol

OK bloody well done you lot a great result from what sounds like a great site and I'm sure that that site will just keep giving Wink
The Roman silver isn't a denarius but an antoninianus of Postumus (260ish) with Hercules on the revers resting on club and holding the lion skin. Probably from the mint at Lyon.

Keep digging
