Well after getting me tector back this week and keen to get out I had to miss the Cardiff rally as I had a wedding yesterday and was a little peeved so I decided to get out today to one of my New Farms That was specifically picked for two reasons. One all the farmhouses nearest to this set of fields are Tudor buildings in origin and all the footpaths between the two nearest villages pass through these fields. The two villages both have Motte and bailey castles so I was at least hoping for some Tudor coinage. After an hour a couple of weeks ago and a five hour stint today I have found at least twenty George II and George III coins and plenty of Georgian partifacts out of nowhere out popped this Hammered about Ten minutes before I was about to leave. Trouble is I think it is a Henry III, two hundred and fifty years earlier I hope it is a correct ID but to say I am over the moon is an understatement. 13 months since my last hammered and I know this is a cracking farm and undetected so hope I find some more for you.

Well done Paul. Something that is still on my wish list, a full Henry III voided long cross penny.

It's London mint, Class 5, but the double striking makes pinning it down to a sub-class dificult, and causes the moneyer's name to be illegible.

Thanks very much people. Here are some more pics from my New farm. This pic is the Victorian Front on the Elizabethan Farmhouse peeping through the hole in the hedge. A cameo appearance from two of the metal detector breaking cows as well.

After a wash and brush up here are the rest of the finds from the site. A lot of coppers, George I, George II, George III, Victoria and a George VI. Couple of pistol shot one has hit something. Some fragments of Georgian buckles. A lead token with a hole in the middle. Georgian Buttons X4. A very worn George V sixpence a modern 10p and a widget ?. Put about two kilos of lead in the lead bucket as well.

 The more observant of you will have spotted this buckle in fine condition which In the Whitehead Book is a type 135 dated 1350 - 1400AD. Well pleased with it.

Well I took my detector with me yesterday in the hope of getting a couple of hours in on the way home and finally managed a an hour and a half and boy am I glad I made the effort. Another hammered second in a week after a 13 month drought. A silver ring, my first ever George I silver although well worn, A nice George V Florin, Late Medieval buckle and some nice Georgian artifacts.

Now that's a couple of hours well spent Paul, excellent bit of work. Is the bottom right item a pipe tamper? I think your George I is a Good King Billy, sorry. It looks as if that site could be seeing a lot more of you Wink
