The bottom line is as Doddy says, you need to try before you buy. Not so easy as I don't know any dealer
that will let you take it out of the showroom on to a field. You will have to try and borrow one from a fellow
detectorist. Even then, it can take several trips out on different fields to have a 'feel' for the machine.
The other thing is that people's opinions on a machine will vary......as you can see!
Doddy is the only one I know who has used an ET or Explorer that doesn't like the Deus, which is fine
as everyone is different.
The mini review I printed above is from someone who has also used the G2 a fair bit and enjoyed that
machine but wrote that his tests showed it wasn't as deep as the Deus, but the recovery speed was
excellent. Again, someone else will disagree with that.
He has also tetested the F4 which he thought was excellent in terms of depth but, due to the search
frequency, wasn't as good on cut halfs and quarter hammereds as the G2/Deus/75.
I'll be interested to see what you choose and how you get on with it...
