Jon I still say they are "stunning brooches" and to get two in that condition is exceptional, thinking back on many of the finds I saw the soil had certainly been kind to the copper-alloys, your brooches, Taffs grots were some of the best I've seen other than the normal edge nibbling and Ceri's George I farthing was in incredible condition compared to the norm.
All of the hundreds of items I didn't find were probably in a similar condition Grin I did have a Grot myself but sods law stepped in and gave me one with no head visible Cry

I thought the same about the condition, I had two grots the weekend and they were grots......... nothing on them what so ever, very poor  Undecided


   Heres a brooch that I found as you can see the soil was not kind to it but the FLO still wanted to record it.
