howdoo peeps ,i went out again early this morning with the intension of just getting as many fishing weights as possible for my lead collection,been detecting for 6 hrs so i was fecked,turned around to go back up the beach to my car and i got a lovely signal,its another ring,looks gold but no hallmarks,could be brass ? i dont know.i am going to get a gold testing kit this weekend.have a look and see what you think. Shocked

Looks a bit like brass to me Mike.  Didn't know you collect fishing weights - will keep them for you from now on instead of giving them away to the fishermen.   Smiley

i collect them for the scrap value teen i'm a bit of a gypsy on the side lol.at first i thought it was a brass olive then i saw where it had been soldered at the back

Lead scrap is £1000 a ton at the moment, thats basically two crisp boxes full. You would be surprised Tyna at just how quick it builds up.
Just for a heads up Copper alloy is currently £2600 a ton.

Mike have you got an old wall tile knocking about the place? if so rub the ring against the back of it, if it's gold it will leave a gold streak, copper alloy won't.

the last time i weighed in lead in i think it was 60p a kilo.i have got a lot of weights.get more tonight to bulk my collection up lol
