Well hello to everyone!

i wandered onto this site by accident a while back. enjoyed reading all the posts and you seem a friendly bunch?
about time i opened my mouth cos i don't want to appear rude by being silent!
started detecting in the late 80's. had a few breaks in between.

working long time in herefordshire/gloucestershire, so back and forth to Brecon.

still using my first detector Fisher1265-X. but its poorly now so after loads of research, ordered a Deus! ( Sarcastic comments always welcome!! Grin )
also have a shiny DFX sitting in the cupboard which i am ashamed to say i never really used, cos i'm too impatient to get the hang of it?  Huh  my problem, not the detectors! Roll Eyes

Hope to get to know you all in time?

People rave about the Deus, but I would rather leave mine in the car. I upgraded the software on it to give me the iron, not iron horseshoe and had banging signals saying not iron, dig them up and it is IRON. I rarely dig any iron using the etrac so unsure just where I am going wrong with the Deus

you can roll back ,but I find it very difficult to tell some iron signals from good ones even the horseshoe lies ! Have a play when you get yours and let us know how you get on with it

i wrote you but its gone walkabout somewhere?
so i'll try again

i personally try not to use meters too much.
i train my ears.
have you seen 'Back To Basics' dvd by Roger the Relic?
the bloke uses a GMP and knows it inside out. you got 2 hours of listening to all the different signals and how to suss them? well most of them because some are so 'iffy' you just dig as you know?
its real 'in the field' stuff! well worth getting and re watching for reference in my opinion

hope this might be of some help to you? Huh
nothing worse than not bonding with your detector! happened to me with the DFX. Cry

good luck mate.
