A very damp but good day out. I spent half the day detecting and the other half sheltering in the blue trailer  Cheesy
Buttons were the order of the day, with my best one being a decorated pewter one.
Well done to the organisers - looking forward to next weekend  Cheesy

Good report as normal Neil.
Shame about the weather, I called it a day at around 12.30, I was beginning to get wet legs as my waterproof trousers were soaking inside, even before I had put them on, my bloody flask leaked over them Grin during the journey down Undecided

Thanks to the organisers, job well done, great site, would love to go back there when drier Wink

Congratulations to all who found, well done.

Johnus, no problem fella, it kept you dry hope Huh Shocked

Another great rally, well done to the team.

Here is my hammered, another ring (unfortunately cheap silver plated) and a 19th century apothecaries' weight for 2 drams.

I also had a load of buttons, a watch winder, a key, a few halfpennies and a farthing, a broken lead toy soldier and a broken lead toy horse.

Dripping, drenched, filthy, muddy, absolutely knackered when I got home. Last to leave I think.

Good time really and I found a few interesting things. A ring or circular brooch? Military or police button with 22 on centre, a knurled ferrul or fragment of a thimble. Still cleaning a pointy iron thingy which might be an arrow-head

Peter - well done on the hammered  Smiley. Really pleased for you.

A certain person we both know enjoyed the rally but also wanted one to put it mildly!!

I hear Steve was disappointed as well  Tongue

Can't win all of the time eh Huh  But it's good when you do!

Hi

Here are my finds from yesterday.  A button (any ideas on a date?), a couple of coins, a silver thingy and an iron goody which has an interesting shape. Does anyone know what the bit is with the hole in the middle?  Nobby found one too, although not yesterday, and we're interested to know what it is.

Thanks!

Well done Shianne - was nice to meet you.

I like that naval button!

The bit with a hole in is part of a ball-cock arm assembly. Possibly from a toilet cistern or a cattle trough.

Thanks Peter.  And nice to have met you too!
Kev sent me a link of Navy buttons but I can't find this particular one on there.  There are very similar ones but not the same.  I'm really interested to know more about it.   Smiley

You should have seen the muck that came off my clothes after the rally. Looked like the washing machine was churning out hot chocolate!

Anyway, my button with the 22 is from the 22nd regiment of foot, the cheshire regiment, from 1850-1865.

The pointy iron thing was a well corroded nail, and I think the ring thingy is probably a single hook strap buckle, but I will let the FLO see that one, see what he thinks.

Just getting warm after 2 days!

Eric
