Anyone got any ideas on this? There are 26 stones of some type in there, dont look like diamonds unfortunatly. No hallmark either, but I think "SI" is stamped there or similar. The deail is much better than the photo, its a little difficult to focus, the whole face is 13mmx13mm, cameo thing 11mmx8mm ish. Ring ID about 17mm.

Not sure of the date, but it's a nice ring. Is it silver or gold?

Well it ain't gold, I think "SI" may mean it silver, pre hallmark maybee. The detail seems too much to be a fake/repro. Found on pasture about 4-5" deep if it helps.

I wasn't sure whether the colour was accurate in the pics. Probably modern foreign silver.

I am almost certain the stones are Marcasite, basically Fools Gold, or Iron Sulphide! This type of jewelery was most fashionable during the Victorian to early Edwardian periods, so if I was to guess a date, I would say 1880-1920s for your ring! Jewelers still use this stone in modern jewelry today. A nice find! Cheers, Jon

Oh, and I forgot to add, 99% of the time Marcasite Jewelry is made in Sterling Silver, so this will more than likely be silver, although if there are no English Silver Hallmarks, then it is probably from Europe. And as I mentioned a guess date, it could quite easily be more modern, but I have a feeling it does have some age to it!
