With the non motion mode on the Deus, the PI is redundant?

Ummmm! No. Though it is a good deep option, it's only going back to the old T/R machines of the 70's.

Yes, I used to use the whites coinmaster...great little machine, though you did pick up the taxi radios going along the beach front

Blimey, those coinmasters must have been strong machines to pick up taxis!

Did they have discrimination?

The Deus non motion modes are reported to be getting terrific depths but most are a little confused about
how to set them up properly as the instructions are a little vague.

Yes before VLF machines came along IB and TRdisc were the way to go. XP have (I would think) just used a IB circuit to create a non motion machine the same principle as the pinpoint function on other machines but without the filtering.

Sounds like it. It's only been out with the update a few days and we're all trying to get our heads around how it's set up as there are 4 non motion modes (3 if you take out the 'normal' pinpoint function).

It'll be handy to do small areas of mineralised soil, a hoard area, or where you want plain depth.

The iron/non iron  horse shoe style meter is proving a hot for deep targets where no VDI displayed.

I agree Bob it would be a great function an scattered hoard or very productive patches when you have got everything out with the normal vlf mode.
Is the horseshoe meter ferrous one way from the top and non ferrous the other?

Yes, ferrous to left and non ferrous to the right.

The more of the segment that fills the closer to the surface....therefore small amount  = deeper.

It's the same principle as the old Arado's meter system and there wasn't much that that left behind so it should be good.

I have heard good things about the Arado although I have never used one. It looks like another string
to the Deus's bow.

I'll have to get out in the field and learn how to set it up and see how I go, but the in air tests that others
have done are picking up coins at two feet + !
