Best bet is go to a car boot sale and buy an old spade, the old steel is better quality, cut it down to what size of hole you're digging with a grinder, shorten the handle and hey presto you've got a much better digger than anyone can sell you!

From my years of experience the best spade I've ever had is a stainless steel sod buster.

It's especially designed for metal detecting and UNBREAKABLE.

Not cheap but the best. Leisure Promotions do them as will all good detetctor shops.

If you don;t want to splash the cash then B&Q do a mini digger for under a £10

agree with Benny the old stuff much much stronger i got a drapper humm ok but i am always ready for the spade to go crack , got a old one made by a friend cut and so on wow it will never  snap but heavy a bit diffcult on the rally using a explorer xs so dont go spending too much not need car booty its a good place and may get one for couple of quids.

Bonne digg.
