Any good detectorist with a descent detector shouldn`t have any use for a probe !  Kiss

Ouch !!!!!!! And I'll still be hurting in the morning.  Cry

A probe saves a lot of work and damage to the unretrieved item. I could manage without one but from
experience the probe just saves time and makes detecting more enjoyable...

But we're all different and if something doesn't suit you then so be it.  Wink

Got myself a probe about 3 weeks ago, the first time i have used one in 15 years of detecting and they are great. Used to think like yourself mate but would not be without it now.

Well done on your conversion................better than Wales!  Grin

It makes me laugh when I see people struggling without one. The harness for dropping the detector
by your side whilst you dig is the other bit of kit that makes life easier. Even then, I've had people
say they don't need one...............until they try it! Grin

I made the mistake one day of leaving my garret in the car and walking about half a mile to a field with loads of lumps and bumps in.

I was finding the goods but taking forever to get them out because all of them were the same colour as the soil.

Until youve had one for a bit, it is difficult to tell how much effort they save. On the weekend at a couple of rallies, I would take about 30 seconds to dig, pinpoint, search out and extract the goodies. Without the pinpointer it was taking minutes in some cases. The longer you are on your knees searching, the harder it is to get up and get on to the next target. Especially if you are a fat unfit bloke like me.
