Hi Peter

Can i call upon your good services to help with the ID of these 2 that appeared today!!

the denarii has AVGVSTA  and PAX on reverse.

the hammered is farthing size ..

i'll aim to get better pics up on the site tomorrow.

The denarius was the 1st fin d of the day, the hammered was a surface find, towards the end!.

cheers

Nice finds Alan - they go a tad too blury for me when I open them - not that I could tell you much about them anyway!

Well done - were they found on a NARC rally?

I'm beginning to think that the denarius is that of Julia Domna, Augusta 194 - 8AD to 217AD.

Lovely finds Alan, well done. As Neil said they are a bit fuzzy when enlarged but the Denarius does look like Julia Domna.

Can't wait for tomorrow's pictures Alan, they certainly looked great in the field.

Here's my little "nummus", but judging by the lack of corrosion, I think it must be something other than copper alloy. Any ideas?

hi tony - i think its a poor quality [maybe a barberous] denarii .. or silver coated nummus.

most certainly its 4th century - constantine -- wolf suckling twins!

Nice finds Alan - need some better pics though. I don't think the Roman is Julia Domna, but will tell you more when I can see it clearer.

I think the hammered is a Henry VIII halfpenny, but again will be able to give a better ID with sharper pics.

It's a Rome commemorative, AD 330-340, like these:
