That is a lovely looking coin Saxon, well done.
Not a 100% sure but it looks like an Octavian (Augustus) coin) similar to this one

Augustus Denarius. Spanish mint, ca 18 BC. Laureate head left / SP QR on either side of domed tetrastyle temple, standard in a chariot within

Great coin Saxon. You're very close Geoff. I believe it is RIC 119, which is the same as yours with the head facing the other way.

So for the non experts in Denarii (only ever found 3!} does the fact it was minted in Spain before the British invasion qualify it as a Republican coin or does it need to have been minted in Italy pre invasion?

I am kind of answering the question here myself as Republican must surely imply anywhere on mainland Europe that was under Roman rule.

Lovely  find by the way Saxon - a real cracker!
