Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere but I've spotted this and thought it would be of interest:-

http://www.coinlink.com/News/ancients/metal-detector-roy-unearths-the-oldest-coin-found-in-wales/

They are saying it could be Wales' oldest coin, but can that be right? I know of a A.Licinius Nerva dated 47 BC found down where I live (Loughor) site of Roma Fort. It was found on the riverbank around 1990 by a detectorist.

What y'all think?
Bob

PS: and if Roy is on here and this is an old discussion then I apologize!

I was lucky enough to be on a really good site in Wales 10+ years ago, 10 of the denarius I found were BC the oldest being 111-110 BC T. Manlius Mancinus, so they were all in circulation for a long time, having said that when I was a kid it wasn't unusual to get a viccy coin in your change.
