They did mention a brooch found next to one of the pots, maybe that's what he actually found. The pots just happened to be in the hole with it.

Would be nice if they actually said that though.

Maybe a daft question but what happens if you dig on land unknowingly where Iron Age burials have been escavated?  I think to protect us detectorists from probably getting a good slap that there should be some sort of signs posted by the local councils to reflect this history.

If they are listed or protected sites the Landowner should be aware and tell you. BUT in my experience, so far, some of them don't know and care even less. If signs on posts were put up they'd be a target for back sctratching by live stock and wouldn't last 5 mins.
Anyway, if thhey've already been excavated there aint going to be anything there. Grin
