Hi any id on these 2 items found at the Rooksbridge rally I thought the round one was just an old button but now I'm not so sure, could it possibly be a small mount of some kind? (weight 3 grams) The other appears to be a dumbell toggle or is this wishful thinking on my part lol  Grin ( weight 9 grams), there is a similar one on the UK Detector Finds Database.

The second one does look like a Roman dumbbell toggle, but I'm not 100% convinced; the collar in the middle looks too square to me. Need to get a FLO's opinion I think.
If it does turn out to be Roman, it was one of the very few Roman finds at the rally.

Thanks guys the centre is defiantly round, the photo I posted was misleading and showed one of the lines from when it was cast. Here are several other shots, any thoughts on the round object (button / small mount / scrubbish  Grin )

In that case I think Gav is probably on the money with a double pistol ball that haven't been separated after casting,
Can you see a casting sprue on either of the ends ?
I'm not sure how well lead would of worked if used for a toggle as it's so soft.

Cant see any casting sprue on the ends Geoff,  the only lines from casting are in the centre on both sides. And there is a lead dumbbell toggle on the UK finds data base,to me it doesn't look like a double musket ball Iv seen these before. But it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong  Grin, needs someone with a bit more knowledge than me to have real close look.

Still not convinced, even UKDFD will only say it was found on a Roman site.

What gives with all these oddities turning up. It must be the time of year Cheesy
Theres toggles/dumbells and containers/cowhorn protectors and lead things/rabbit net weights. I think this is what makes this such a great hobby. You just never know whats going to turn up.
