Thanks to all involved for a well-organised day out. Personally,most interesting find was a fairly corroded Guernsey 2 Doubles of 1858 (I think!) plus a small lead weight,buckles and a couple of buttons.However,the large area did provide plenty of useful exercise!

Had a really good day out,thanks to all the efforts ofthe organizer,not only did I make new friends I found my second hammered a James 1st 6d.Really chuffed with that!

Thanks again to all concerned and am looking forward to the next event.

Had a great day out - well organised (especially the weather - now, that is having friends in high places !!). It was nice to talk with people from other clubs.  Brew had a fun day out, meeting and greeting everyone as we walked around.  Just need to teach him to sniff out the hammered!  Shocked

re my charles 1st ha;fcrown, i showed it  to lloyd benett coin dealer and helps value spinks coin book, he told me that he had recently purchased an identical one for  £100 with plating in perfect condition,  and was very interested to compare mint marks with his he id mine ascharles the first cotempory halfcrown tower mint markR the court is out on wether the tower mint nowingly made this coin, maybe charlie run out of silver and made these  like james and the irish gunmoney or did some one else make them, i will see what edward besley says,  thanks richard you where spot on silver plated and made in charles time ps it was kev doing all the talking i was just listning Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Well organised rally ... great day out and Hip hip hooray.. I did not find a single pull ring.

I have uploaded 2 pictures onto Gallery of 1900 Victoria 1 sixpence found on this rally by Derek from Llanelli.

My mate Barrie( The Jinx) broke the head of his machine at the rally and straight off several members close by offered the loan of a  machine which was great and I thank those that offered on his behalf, sorry I forgot to mention it before. As it happened he did have a spare but it showed a great camaraderie among the members.
