Thanks Chef - thats a good question about how long I will stay with the Ace 250. I have already been cooing over better machines but I don't think I am ready to upgrade yet - still need to earn my spurs with the Ace.

I like the look of the CP1 though - although a bit more than I was originally going to spend on headphones, But I am thinking get it right first time and then don't need to upgrade any time soon then  Grin

Mmmm! [ponders]

Ok took my new CP1's out the back for a test drive. Turned on the 'tector great sound coming through, no sound leakage, very nice I think.

So take them off to have another look at them and flicked the switch that I find on the side, also noticed I had them on the wrong way round  Tongue, try them again (right way!) - bloody hell sound took my head off! turned them down very quickly. Thought they were good before but when I flicked the switch the sound pickup is very strong - awesome!

Top set of headphones - cheers Chef and also all who recommended them.

I had a new set of Koss before I got my chefphones and I loved them , albeit they used to slide off my head everytime I bent down to dig. When I got the Chefphones, I was convinced there could not be that much difference between two pairs of decent headphones.................. How wrong I was.  The way Chef has my Etrac set up - in conjuction with the phones is awesome,  when I go over a hammered or any of the low range goodies the bloody phones literally vibrate.  The Etrac is a slow machine granted , but the phones really allow you to pick out  signals close together in the ground.

First time i put the Chef phones on I panicked as the amount of sound they block out is frightening. I had to whip them off quick to make sure I hadnt actually gone deaf  Shocked  Wink
