Hi Peter,

I make this an Edward Penny from York (EBOR), but I'm stumped on how to tell the difference between the Eddies. Is it possible to make a positive Id from such a worn image? If so, I'd love to hear the reasons too. Many Thanks,

It's Edward III.

A lot of the ID depends on the general style of the coin, which is very different to those of Edward I and II. They never have the head on such a long neck with shoulders. See here for a few hundred Edward I and II pennies and you will see the difference in shape of the bust:

Edward IV coins are also different, particularly in the shape of the crown:

It is too worn to give a more precise ID.
