I think Gold staters are the Holy grail of Detectorists,
I think id like to fine a Gold or Silver Roman just because its more likely a Stater.
Ive never found a cartwheel penny or an whole crotal bell, i think id like to find the latter just to annoy Byron Mathews AKA Bymatt666 (RARE Vice Chairman) cos its high on his wish list lol   Tongue Tongue

Hi kev

Hope you're getting better. I've voted for any artifact cause I don't care what I find. As long as I find something it's worth going out.

Bad Karma I know, but I had to vote for Gold Coin. Any gold coin would be like a month of Christmases all in one. A stater would be like, well, you know... it''d be like winning the Friday Lotto, Euromillions, and the football pools all in the same weekend. A nice gold hammered would send me through to the cardiac unit and a nice bit of milled gold would put a cheshire cat to shame. But now I've voted for it, I'll have to go to the back of the queue I suppose.

I was going to start up a local branch of GCAA, (Gold coin addicts anonymous) but I was disqualifed due to lack of credentials.

Oh well, we can all dream can't we.

I think I would like a Gold Noble (in good condition!). A chap in Devizes Wilts showed me his finds, some time ago, and amongst them was a Gold Noble, in almost mint condition - It was by far the most impressive coin I have ever seen - The ship design was incredibly detailed. We can only dream.......
