Hi Peter any chance you have some info on a coin weight found by hammered steve.
it's 2 1/2 inches in diameter and weighs approx 2 ounces. I believe the reverse is flat with no detail on.
many thanks

Nice find Zorro - and looks to be in good condition.
Hopefully The Doc will be able to shed some light on it - I had a browse on the net earlier today, but could not see anything close to it.

This is not a coin weight, but may be a weight of some sort. It appears to read E FIDOE PLUMBER.

Edmond (or Edmund) Fidoe was a plumber at 25 Baldwin Street Bristol in the 1760s and 1770s, and I think this item relates to him, although I have no idea what it was used for. Some info here:

thanks peter. well if its not a coin weight then i have absolutely no idea what it could be?
the sides are straight, not tapered, so dont think it could be some sort of a brass bung.
another for the U.F.O. file then.
great piece of detective work on the name though all the same peter...many thanks.
i'll break the "bad" news to steve.
