hi guys as some of you may know i detect a lot of aceage in south herefordshire,a friend of mine asked if i would help him get some land over here so after a phone call today i have got a huge 4000 acre estate to tect on ,the master of the house is sending me map and conditions later this week ,ive never detected a estate before ,,,,,,any advice?,im pretty much blown away i was expecting to get another farm but this is mad,,, i think there are 5 farms on estate Huh Huh Huh

thats fantastic news for you paulywow well done on getting that land ,just abide by the normal detecting rules make sure you put your clodges back properly and shut gates after you  Wink

Well done Paul, when I have had large farms to detect on in the past, I have found it helpful to break the land down into plots. Treating each plot as a different site, otherwise it's all to easy to spend 10 minutes on one field, find nothing and move on to another, give yourself a day or so on each plot.

Just to note. if you are going to detect it properly ie grid it then 4000 acres will take you about 37 years at 40 hours a week. happy hunting.
