Hi I know these are not of any great age, but I seem to be finding  them almost every where from woods to pasture etc. Am I right in thinking  their mortar shell fragments?

HI oh fellow discoverer of strange sharp thingys,

I have been told that they are shrapnell from anti aircraft  fire. If this was found in the vale of glamorgan, it was bracketed by antiaircraft batteries coz of the ports at Barry and Cardiff and the airfields in the area. The stuff I have came out looking like a copper or newish bronze. A bright orangy brown. Sound familiar?
