I have been waiting for this to come out on Blue Ray on the 16th August as I missed its brief appearance in the cinema. Supposed to be a Roman version of the classic The Warriors i.e. a group of guys fighting to make it home against massive odds.

Centurion is set during the Roman invasion of Britain in AD 117, details the story of Quintus Dias, who was the sole survivor of a Pictish raid on a Roman frontier fort. He then marches north with General Virilus’ legendary Ninth Legion, under orders to wipe the Picts from the face of the earth and destroy their leader Gorlacon.

The truth behind the fiction is that the ninth legion did head North into Scotland and then promptly disapearred off the face of this earth. Somewhere in Scotland is lieing a huge burial of a whole legion, just waiting to be found. DW Rally in Scotland anyone?

Heres the trailer:

Cheers
Neil

The ninth is also the legion that was almost wiped out by Boudicca. When they marched north they marched out of history, no one is quite sure whether they were massacred or if they were simply disbanded.

Yes Digger your right, plus there is evidence of the IXth serving in Holland after 117AD. But hey it's Hollywood.
