Went down to the Forest of Dean on Sunday (Littledean area) , thought it may be a little difficult due to the weather forecast!
Spent more time in the car than detecting, the field is so wet the farmer can't plough it!
Was walking around like bigfoot, the detector was getting heavier and heavier due to mud sticking to the head (I was worried that it may break) , but it was a laugh and I did actually manage to find a couple of buckles (1250-1400).
I get invited down about once a year, my mate was pointing out what he had found on various fields, and they were nice finds, and happened to be all around some fields that are permanent pasture. So I said "what have you found on those" , "we don't detect pasture, my brother doesn't like it".
Told him my thoughts on that, asked him if I could go on those fields, he is thinking about it. Methinks he will be making some really nice finds very shortly!
Anyway it is nice to go elsewhere occasionally and find some complete artefacts and I do like buckles.

Can I have it  Grin That's a nice one, they are a good indicator too of what you are likely to find on a site.

Nice buckles lads, Steve I read somewhere that if you spray WD40 on your coil before detecting it helps to stop the mud sticking...... Wink
