Quickly organised somewhere to go today (we'd already visited this land before)
So myself , Melonhead (Mark), Leighton and my regular m8 Dicky.....with a guest apperance for a couple of hours of Casa dos and Aunty Ann (his digger) looked forward to a pleasant days detecting
So a beautiful sunny day in the lovely setting of mid Monmouthshire, and after the Friday afternoon downpour, it hopefully seemed that the ground had softened?
On my second signal, I found a Vicky 6d, but during the morning session, finds were slow. Besides the couple of coppers, buttons and lead, the only finds of note were Casa's spindle whorl and bag seal and Leighton's medieval palm guard.
The afternoon session then belonged to Melonhead. He struck a Vicky silver hoard
, consisting of 5 joeys and a sixpence. His renowned beaming smile said it all......well done Mark...well deserved for such a great personality and great detectorist. If then that wasn't enough silver, Leighton then dug up 2 more silver, these had been defaced...further investigation will tell us what they are
So 9 silver in a days detecting, great setting ,great company and great to see Casa out for a couple of hours. Well done all. Mark will post his silver l8r, here's mine
