The date of 1890-1910 is based on them being sold by Gamage of London, to be sure you would have to get hold of an old catalogue of theirs (yes they still exist around the place).
Saxonman.... these fired matchsticks, it is the small toy cannons that actually used gun powder.

arrrr  we had some that fired matchsticks when i was young, had a lot of fun with it,
found a plastic gun down the beach the the other day,  noticed later that it should shoot  something out,  i went back tuesday and found the missing very soft plastic dart that has a soft sucker on the end,
the grandkids are happy with it lol.

A button with crown and what looks like C I V  underneath.

all help appreciated.

Could be the  City Imperial volunteers? I believe they wore a C.I.V. shoulder title as a cap badge in the slouch hat.

A makers name or any markings on the back might help me more?

Personally I lean towards the 104th Foot but nothing definite yet.

Here are a couple of pics of Bona Fide 100% City Imperial Volunteers buttons. No prizes for guessing their date...

Also your find.
