I have a problem with my computer system...

I use Mozilla Firefox great until a few days ago.. whenever i try and access the internet i get the message "Already in use either stop programme or restart"

There is nothing running and i am very limited at the mo cos i access all my sites via bookmarks usually and now cannot remember most of em hi...lol
I have managed to get on here by using internet explorer i have done a system restart from up to one month ago with no effect...
And all remains as above message whenever i try to get on...

In extremely step by step simple terms lol could someone put me right please.

i aint no comutr wizard but my comp went bonkers the other week and i ended up by staring the system up and repeatedly pressing f11 or f12 which returned my comp to factory settings.
