Casa i worked in electrical retailing for 14years and i always swore by Toshiba but with the likes of Aldi and Tesco now selling them as well i would give serious thought to buying from Aldi all the tv's come with a 3 year parts and labour cover and you dont get any problems if they go wrong.

As said, I have a 42" Panasonic Viera Plasma and it's excellent.

I got it on the advice of a TV engineer/satellite/aerial installer. Got it on a good deal for £599 with a 5 year warranty.

I've also got a couple of Samsung LCD and they are excellent.

Whatever you do, DON'T buy Tesco's own make Teknica. They are rubbish with cheap components. My dad is a tight arse and his blew up and he had a battle with Tesco to get it replaced as it was a couple of weeks outside the 1 year warranty.

Personally, I'd go for Panasonic then Samsung.  Sony not as good as they used to be.

Bought a 42" Toshiba lcd two months ago on a deal £379.00 with 5 year warranty down from £599 in the right place at the right time, one day only shop offer from Comet. It is a cracking TV Kev so would recommend it but is £599 in the shops again. As I watch less than three hours TV a week though Kev I am no expert.
