Right, this isn't a find of mine but a farming friend of mine who farms on one of the largest medieval settlements of the area, found this, eyes only when digging a trench for a pipe.

Sorry for the crappy image but I scanned it and it isn't flat.



Its copper alloy
25cm X 70 cm
Very thin and probly quiet old as it has fractured/worn through at one point
Is the shape of a leaf with the leaf veins hand pressed into it
It may have been black enamelled as there are traces left on it
No visible mounting but it has snapped off something at the base

It's got me stumped as to what it is or was a prt of. Any ideas?

Really?. It is VERY thin and flimy so is purely decorative and not functional at all.

Maybe furniture decoration, probably post-medieval pressed brass.
