as iv been to tenby and was sat with auntie Ann on a bench in saundersfoot front (like Grannie and grampa) Grin watching this man detecting on the beach not to far away ,could not get over is swing it was so high off the ground don't think he would have got many signals at all Huh Roll Eyes......... iv brought this subject up in the past about how high some folks swing their detectors ,had to mention it again after seeing this happen when i was away ...............".KEEP IT LOW " Wink Grin

Agree with you there Kev , reminds me of a rugby song, ,,,,,,,,  can't quite remember how it goes now, ,,,,,, no still not there,,,,,,,, no its gone ,,, damn , can't even remember which country sings it,,,, but i keep getting visions of a first aid kit for some reason.......of course Switzerland ,,, no that can't be right................

Don't know if u remember Kev but last year I went to Saundersfoot and posted a pic of a detectorist. He had the same swing so I daresay it is the same bloke. He could take someones eye out with that swing!

It's not just the ones who detect the air! You've also got the ones who swing upwards at the end of the swing, making a U shape. Maybe they think they're using a scythe instead?

My personal favourites (because I used to be one) are the people who have the stem extended so long they're scanning three feet in front of them. Then, after an hour, they're wondering, "Why is my arm aching?" Uhm, you're fighting gravity, mate?

I was out detecting a few days ago and i tried turning the coil around it suppose to help with balance, it looks a bit odd but it works !
 Weight isn't a major problem with a light weight detector but i i should imagine you'd see a big difference with an Explorer
