The Ace 250 is a great detector for it's price, but the Hawkeye is in a different league.

Minelab X-Terra 705, Garrett Ace 150

I agree. The 250 is an entry level machine, whereas the Hawkeye is mid-range.

I had a go of a Hawkeye a while ago and was very impressed with it. The target ID is quite accurate, since it is set for British coinage. Remember, the Garrett Ace is set for use in the US, so target ID doesn't really tell you much over here.

I would've bought a Hawkeye, but opted for a Minelab when the chance came along. Smiley

I BOUGHT A LAZER HAWKEYE..
AND FOUND A GOLD CELTIC STATER.I ONLY HAD THE MACHINE 5 WEEKS.
EASY TO USE.AND I THINK MYSELF ITS A VERY GOOD MACHINE.
VERY LIGHT MACHINE.

BUT I CANT COMMENT ON THE GARRETT ACE 250.NEVER USED ONE.

Both are good machines , but the Hawkeye is no good on the beach , but on land , it will beat the Garret

Hi Delta

Ive never owned either machine But ive sold the 2 for other people so ive had about 4/5 hours on each.
If your thinking of buying either go for the Laser,
The Hawkeye has better Discrim and Id say it went a few inches deeper on most soil types and most conditions.
The Laser machine is built for the British market so you dont have to ignore the nickles, Dimes and Doller symbols on the display like with most machines

all the best
Phil

I've owned both. The Ace250 is amazing for the money.

If you can get one for about £250 then it's the Hawkeye. A very capable machine but expensive new.
