hi Geoff and Paul, i have been told the samething by others that have seen it, but there is no "crows foot stamp" on the cross guard, which would be there if it was british issue, and the cross guard is also hand made, its not uniform, the handle is made of brass or bronze, the only commando knife with a brass handle was the "SYKES", they stopped making it with brass as it was to costly. the only other explanation could be its foreign or a protortype, what do you think. Undecided also why the guilded handle, also there is no threaded end to hold the blade in place, it was flattened over, any more views would be much appreciated  thanks for the replys anyway  mickycoin  mick Grin Grin

hi kev thats my thoughts also, it was only 1/4 mile from the castle, not that that means anything. the handle has been given a new lease of life and has been fitted with a new blade, will bring it to the club if you would like to see it." if i got stopped with it i think they would lock me up, as li said before kev add anything i put up of interest to you to the data base  mickycoin mick

mick looking at that again  the handle looks too narrow to be a commando's dagger.... to me anyway.and every commando's dagger i can find has ridges all way down handle.
also would a commando's dagger thats about 60 years old really have rusted to that extent?
i really think there is age in that.
