I am fascinated by Prehistoric flintwork and its development through to the Roman period where metal working seemed part of every day life. Totally useless with hammered coins I will leave that to the Doc.

Well done on the ID Paul. I hope Mark Lodwick gets to see this item - I think he'll be thrilled by it.

Very nice Phil. This is my favourite period in History and that is a little stunner of a find.

I had been given the address of a master arrowsmith to ask his opinion but it looks like problem solved. I will duely enter it in our database, under Roman 3rd-4th C Bronze arrow head

Here's reply from master arrowsmith Hector cole
"Hello Kevin,  This particular head is a bit before my time being in bronze.  It could be just in the early Roman period but it could equally be early bronze age as it is a tanged head not a socketed one.  I would put it in the early bronze age as it is simple to produce in a flat two part mould where the socketed head need a far more sophisticated moulding technique.  Hope this is of some help to you."
he certainly thinks its Roman or even earlier so theres plenty more hope for the site, age wise at least.
Well done phil !!

Great bit of research by "The Flashing Blade!"

Cracking result - I forgot to tell you all -the farmer at the Rally location  is mad as a hatter he shook my hand when we went there on the way back from Bristol Trip to sort out the parking for the rally and then fell about laughing!

"You haven't just had that hand up a cows arse. have you?" I said.

He said "Not just a cow, but I have also just delivered a lamb!" and carried on howling with laughter.

He was still laughing hysterically in my rear view mirror as I pulled away! Reminded me of "Mad Eric" from Blackadder first series I think!

I quickly rubbed my hands on Robs sweater - he didn't seem to mind! Grin

I think a revisit is definately in order at some point in light on this!

Great research mate and from an expert who would know as well. You can't get better service than that.

Cheers
A Clean Handed Neil

I have to agree with my mate phil. it's got to be the roman period for me. Strangely enough word has it that they still inhabit the more remote part's of aberdare!!! LOL Grin
