I think I remember you finding this Phil - was it DW's second rally? I can remeber thinking it looked like bronze, but was far too light.

At the time it reminded me in design of a terret ring, but the shape is wrong. I think Mark is miles off with "a toy". I still feel it has an age to it, but no idea to its purpose matey.

Good luck with finding out.

well the item seems to be intact and not broken. finding what its made of will be the key i suspect. could it be pewter?
I really cant place it as a toy, or part of a toy?
Phil what size is it?
is there any evidence of enamelling?
is the a cast line?
think we need to do some research on this one. i may be wrong but this looks nothing like a toy to me??

Phil ive placed this item in anew folder in our database named "unidentified" as i dont want to see these items lost in our system. this way we can always refer back to hem until a positive I.D. has been confirmed.
If , at a later date , an  item proves to be modern and of no signifigance it can be removed.
Phil is there any chance you can give a bit more info regarding size, any markings or even weight...anything you think may be worth adding to this items details in database.
cheers

Hi Kev
Thanks for puting it in our data base someone might be able to tell what the hell it is one day lol
I found it at the last Rooksbridge rally
I took to a club meeting and a few Lady's tried it on and it looks very Impressive as a bit of Bling

Its 5.5cm internal at its widest, 8.5cm at its external widest  and stands 6.5cm tall
I dont think it was as rough as it looks now because theres some parts that looks smooth and finished its a gun metal gray colour with no variation in shade.

Its looks heavy but at a guess its no heavier than a £1 Chubby
My 1st impressing was it might be made of Pewter but as pewter contains around 4 % lead this might not be the case
But the casting looks as if its very porous so it could be Pewter
There is definite casting line but its only visible in between some of the Turrets
A few members in the club seem to think its very old and told Mark he might regret not taking it to the Museum for a better look
all the best
