Its a quiet night in for me and I know a few of you guys like the old militaria. As I mentioned before I used to have a real thing for this field of collecting and was in the attic on the weekend so I thought I would get out a few from my collection to show you.

I have lost touch with values as it was a good 20+ years ago that I was collecting them (I have around 100 various medals}. If anyone has any idea for the medal run belows value - please drop me a PM.

Below is a Queens South Africa (QSA} with bars for Belfast, Laings Nek & Orange Free State, followed by a Kings South Africa (KSA} 1901 & 1902 bars and a Khedives Sudan medal with bar for Khartoum. These were awarded to a private of the Rifle Brigade who as yet I have never got round to researching, so I'll keep his name private. He then progressed to being a Corporal on his 1914-15 Star and the heady heights of Sergent for his 1914-18 War Medal. Interesting life!

cheers

very interesting Neil, my great grand father (and beachboys grand father) won the "Star medal(1914), British war medal (1914-1920) and Victory medal (1914-1919)" medals in WWl and also the "Military medal" which he won at the Somme .We have tried but are unable to see a citation for what action he did to receive the MM.
facsinating subject all the same.
looks a great collection you got.

Love this field of collecting Neil. Do you have any Anglo Zulu war 1879 . I have a VERY large collection of information on this subject. Studied it at University and have kept up with current research. I have access to several archives and could hopefully find you some decent info.

I knew you would be interested in these Jon. I don't think I have any Anglo Zulu war medals, but I will check.

Any chance if I PM you the details - (name, serial number, rank, regiment} of the chap who one these medals you could find a little bit more out for me? I wouldn't know where to start.

Cheers
