Any one want to buy  my detecting gear, I emailed the local council to gain permission to detect my local parks, and guess wot they said no and in no polite terms if i get caught detecting i will get prosecuted for damaging the ground, I live in a semi rural area and non of the farmers will let me on there land, well there rented land they don't actually own it. cant detect on the beach its national trust and they own every last bit of rubbish under there sand, my garden is all new soil ans dosnt have any thing in it.
bugger i am going to have to talk to the wife an kids now.
 thanks for lettin me rant.

where are you from buddy?
I had the same problem living in bristol, they have a by-law about sytematic digging of turf. it was to stop people digging sods and burning them on there fires. It peed me off and still does..lol in fact anything to do with bristol city council in general.

join a club, thats what i did, and keep at it with the farmers, they are a strange bunch.

handyman-yep strange wasnt the right word, i have some good farmer pals, not sure what the right word would be though. Most of them are apporachable, and your right they do find us strange.

bernie- finding land is always a bit of a bugger, come to a detecting wales rally, its well worth the drive, i found my first hammerd silver on one a few weeks ago.
i think there are some tempate letters you can send to your local farmers on here somewhere as well if you want to keep trying.

Keep at it Bernie, it's hard in the beginning but the rewards are worth the wait.

Best of luck.
