I only popped out for about ½ hours this afternoon & I'm glad I did!

I found this buckle in a field next to an old Church, apparently it's 17c in date & it's really small (wouldn't keep my trousers up).

Very unusual style - an absolute corker! I'm guessing its too early for hallmarks.

If memory serves me the last chapter of Ross Whiteheads book had silver buckles from this period in it - I'll have a look later

Used on stockings and long socks to hold 'em up! Might not be though just a guess!
