Using Google Earth

Hi all, i have used Google Earth only at a basic level, can anyone suggest how to use Google Earth in conjunction with detecting  .
Such as, what to look for when researching land and possible new detecting sites, how to log places where you find items, etc, etc.
Any help much appreciated

Totally agree with Phil Ace. It does help to have in mind what is already known of your area of interest. Don,t always zoom right in as well, it pays to sometimes pull out a little which has helped me find two new Roman Roads in Herefordshire and the clock feature in the toolbar is sometimes useful as you get to see you area of interest at different periods of time and sometimes this has been beneficial to me in researching the landscape.
