Out detecting today with LoveDoc, drizzly rain most of the time, but we had a great time.
Found my first Vicky Penny 1866, three cut Halfpennys ( puzzled me why their cut ), a nice Half Crown, Buckle plate thingy, 4 musket balls ( again my first ), a little lead seal ( shown in pic next to a 5p ), and a few modern coins.
Great day out cheers Doc mate.

an excellent start young ace ... now u got to think about how you are going to catalogue and display your finds.

Also, don't forget to take a GPS recording of the find spots and plot them on an O/S map, or google earth - as it helps build up a picture of what has been happening on the field and in the area. This can be useful information as time goes by.

finally, anything over 300 yrs old, please record with the Finds Liaison Officer of the Portable antiquity Scheme.

happy hunting

Good finds aceboy - I bet the halfcrown sounded like a gong when you went over it!  Always nice to come away from a day out with a handful of coins and artefacts.
