I got really teed-off with my F75 after Sunday,s Club rally. The stupid thing
sometimes shut off as I put it down to examine excavated earth, then it decided to
go into All Metal for no reason at all. I rang up Joan Allen and they said to send it back. I,ve done this and hopefully it will be returned working well again. In time for
the next Club rally I hope.    Sad Cry Cry       STAN

Stan detectors are like everything else......they're OK as long as they're working properly but become a pain in the butt when they go wrong. Sad  I've never dealt with JA but I shouldn't think it would take them long to fix it. Is it still under warranty?

Yes, it,s still under warranty. Only got it end of April last year. All these problems
started when I finished assembling it. I put the supplied batteries in, switched on,
and the box started smoking. Panic stations. Switched off, removed buggered
batteries, inserted new ones, switched on, allworking normally. Definitely a
connection problem. It,s been working on and off fairly decently until now, but
Sunday,s fiasco finally popped my cork. Hopefully, J.A will fix it up for me, or if
they,re in a good mood, send me a new unit. Oh yes, forgot to mention, the battery
box is loose on it,s mounting, and wobbles slightly as I sweep. I,ve checked the
retaining bolts, and they were NOT loose. All in all, a pretty poor quality for a plastic
machine costing £600. Maybe I should send this posting off to Fisher in the good-old
U.S of A .  Cry Cry         stan

Blimey Stan if it started smoking as soon as you put the batts in there must be a short in there somewhere, I'd have sent it back straight away.

Got my tector back from J.A on Friday last. Springs done, test done. Seems to be
in good working order. The proof will come on the Club rally next Sunday. That,s
what most beepers are like, that one day all will come right.    STAN

Looks like Joan Allen did the biz for me. On yesterday,s rally I had no probs at all.
Only found a bag seal, and a large Roman ( sestertius??) can,t see much detail.
But anyway, my machine acted perfectly. All I hope for now is a great find next
