I found this today, came up back end first full of mud, i was about to chuck it in the hedge thinking it was a bottle top!
Reflected and thought it better to chuck in with the junk in my pouch and turned it over to find this.
How you see it is how it came out, minus the plug of mud in the back, i think it may be pewter or perhaps Silver.
Any Ideas anyone.

Cheers
Salty

Wow,thats a really nice find Karl,i like that a lot,Certainly looks like silver to me,as to what it is  Huh,could be a lot of things, brooch, pendant, locket,Great design looks Georgian but may be older ? if there is no Hallmark it could be on the missing part or it could be foreign possibly Indian ?,or it is much older and wasn't hallmarked, would be nice to find out what it is and it's age,Good job you didn't throw it  Cheesy

Nice find Karl, does it look as if it had a hinge at one time?

Could be a scent bottle or inkwell top  Huh

Thanks for everyone's kind words, Yes i was lucky i didn't sling it! Wink
I've had a good look, i think it may well have had a small hinge at a point where there's some damage at the edge and exactly opposite is a small dimple in the outer edge that could have been for a catch may be?
