Just noticed that there is a metal detecting programme on Sky channel 503. BBC NEWS CHANNEL  starting at 4:30.  Half an hour long on the news channel. Can't be bad.

What a great programme. Showed the hobby in an excellent light. 40 000 people attended the museum before the finds were taken to London for further analysis. I'm glad I Sky plussed it so I can watch it again. Some of the artefacts were just breath-taking. Well done the BBC!

£3.25 million pounds worth.how many treasure hunters will take up metal detecting and reverse the good name the hobby has been building in recent years.

I thought the valuation was low to be honest. What did they say? 5 kilos of gold and 1 and a 1/2 kilos of silver? Three times more treasure than Sutton Hoo? They should have gone to cash4gold

Joking honestly! They said it was a text book example of metal detectorists and archaeology working in harmony.

lets hope the money can be raised to keep the hoard in this country...otherwise £3.285m is a drop in the ocean to the vatican, who want to acquire it, claiming it has links to it from way back then........byron
