Trawling through my pc this evening I came across a pic of my first hammered coin I ever found.

I was with Mark and Jaydogg at the time in the Glorious VOG and I wasn't 100% sure it was a hamster. They soon put me right. Turned out to be Henry III. I was already hooked on detecting, but it  took me 7 months to find my first! What do you know the next week I had a clipped Groat of Henry V! Found with the wonderful Minelab Muskateer - a cracking machine and cheap as chips to buy second hand these days.

Do you remember your first hammie? Got a photo? Whos still waiting for one? How long?

Cheers

Yeah lol - it was approx 12metres away from the other finds in the garden.  Between me and my father - we have found

Forgery of a GEO III or IV shilling  (1760-1820)
Queen Elizabeth Sixpence (1582)
William IV Silver Fourpence (1836)
Henry VII Sovereign Penny (1485-1509)

The house is 34 years old so no history or old buildings for about 1mile.  There is a dewpond in the field that is shown on the 1886 map.
