I was wrong and a bit of research has shown that it wasn't a weight for a Gold Angel but rather a Gold Noble. Proves at least that there was some serious money changing hands in the area in the 1500's.

Weighs in at 5.1 grams [you were close DD but no cigar! Wink]

Excellent find m8, one of the more unusual finds of the day, not including the potential stater of course.  Has anyone managed to accurately id it yet?

my original guess was 4.8 grames .look thats not a bad guess but as you thought it was an angel weight i thought i was out .0.3g out call me the weighing machine.
i estomated the gold at 1.4g it was smack on.
wow a nobble weight now thats fantastic.
maybe a nobble may come on the next rally .
